Masterclass with Megan Gunnell - Sat, Feb 22nd from 3 - 5pm
Expanding into the Sacred and Profound; incorporating the Mandala into your offerings as a therapist.
In this 2-hour experiential workshop, you will create a Mandala and then learn how and when to implement it into your practice with clients. Creating Mandalas can be inspirational and therapeutic. Mandala's have been used for insight, guidance and healing across many cultures. This workshop will support you to begin to use nonverbal, expressive and creative offerings with your clients.
We begin with a short guided meditation designed to help us become more in tune with our inner selves and tap into our subconscious knowing. Then using a large sheet of paper with a circle template as a guide, we will begin to explore the use of chalks and oil pastels on paper. From color, line, texture and allowing shapes to flow intuitively, a design is formed.
After creating the Mandala, you will learn how to process and interpret your creation. Through a series of questions and introspection, we will review the profound meaning behind color selection, placement of symbols, shapes and design. We will also take an in depth look at the 12 stages of the Mandala and understand the meaning behind each one. Participants will also receive a workbook for Mandala interpretation you can use in your own work with clients.
Scale your practice by implementing the Mandala into groups, workshops, retreats and programs for clients. Learn how to guide clients through creating and interpreting Mandalas. This workshop is experiential and hands on. Wear comfortable clothing. No previous art of meditation experience is required.
Megan has an extensive background using the Mandala in her work as a therapist for over 20 years. Nonverbal, creative work which touches on deep, subconscious themes for clients can accelerate their progress and healing. Discover how sacred and profound the insight and wisdom is from using the Mandala in our therapeutic work.

Session Title: More Than Just Words: The Power of Cultivating Therapeutic Presence to Thrive as a Therapist
Session Type: General
Session Description: Therapeutic presence (TP) is the foundation of connection. Imagine a therapist fully engaged, listening not just with their ears but with their whole being. That's therapeutic presence – a deep attunement that fosters trust, safety, and understanding. TP creates a space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued for who they are. This deep connection empowers clients to explore difficult emotions and
navigate challenges. But, how do clinicians get to this level of engagement? TP goes beyond techniques and interventions. It is a way of being with others, not doing for them. It is a way offering compassionate empathy, not going to empathetic distress. It is a way to regulate and relate even when faced with stories of trauma, abuse, rage, and more. Consider this statement: When therapists thrive, clients flourish. Cultivating
presence isn't just about benefiting clients; it also benefits therapists. By following this structured yet intuitive approach, therapists can avoid burnout and compassion fatigue, creating a sustainable and rewarding practice. In this interactive presentation, participants will dive into the art and science of cultivating TP through the lens of Polyvagal Theory, name four core elements of TP, identify barriers to TP, and demonstrate effective grounding techniques to mindfully co-regulate.
Learning Objectives:
1. Define therapeutic presence in working with clients.
2. Describe two internal and two external barriers to therapeutic presence while in session.
3. Name four core elements of therapeutic presence and the impact on therapeutic relationship.
4. Demonstrate two grounding techniques to better regulate/co-regulate to enhance therapeutic relationship.

Session Title: Always Online: Therapeutic Approaches for The Digital Age
Session Type: General
Session Description: In today’s schools, hospitals, doctor’s offices, and therapy rooms, we are seeing the impacts of being constantly online: the adolescent mental health crisis, rising rates of loneliness, a decline in the number of friends, kids not wanting to grow up, being unable to put our phones down, and screen use doubling over the pandemic.
As the adults who are raising and caring for today’s young people, we don’t have a common roadmap and full understanding of the clinical implications of screen overuse. This highlights the urgent need for a collective therapeutic approach for helping individuals find better skills and solutions for navigating the digital age. When we have healthy relationships with our screens, we will have healthier relationships with each other. In this workshop, we will take a look at the modern clinical approaches for helping people of all ages build better relationships with screens and technology so they can build more balanced brains.
Areas of focus will include:
How addictive algorithms capture our attention, making us more erratic, irrational, distracted, and self-focused.
How dopamine reshapes our reward pathways and how to rewire the reward circuitry.
How constant screen use rewires our social instincts and changes our relationships.
Learning Objectives:
1. Evaluate and assess the four types of screen use and how to intervene when screen use becomes problematic.
2. Describe the features of a healthier relationship with screens and technology- in friendships, partnerships, and working relationships.
3. Implement case plans for how to rebalance the brain using the skills and strategies from The Balanced Brains Protocol- an integrative therapeutic approach for helping professionals at all levels.

Session Title: Let's Talk About Sex: Best Practices in Bringing Sexuality and Sexual Wellness into Conversations with Clients
Session Type: Social and Cultural Competence
Session Description: Conversations about sex can often be challenging, laden with stigma, discomfort, and misinformation. Yet, open and honest communication about sex is crucial for fostering healthy relationships, promoting sexual well-being, and navigating
the complexities of human intimacy. In this breakout session, we will explore strategies and techniques for initiating and navigating conversations about sex in a respectful, informed, and empowering manner.
Our session will also address common challenges and barriers to discussing sex, including cultural taboos, fear of judgment, and lack of knowledge. By creating a supportive and inclusive environment, we aim to empower participants to overcome these obstacles and approach conversations about sex with confidence and compassion.
Join us as we embark on a journey of exploration and discovery, breaking down barriers and fostering understanding, respect, and acceptance in our conversations about sex and sexuality. Together, we can create a world where talking about sex is not only normalized but celebrated as an essential aspect of human connection and well-being.

Clients come to sex therapy to ask questions, be heard and seen, and discuss parts of themselves that are incredibly powerful and vulnerable. As co-founders of a sexual wellness practice, Dalliance Sexual Wellness Collective in Parker, CO, we take pride in being sex-positive; pleasure-centered with group practice, supporting our clients as they build greater self-awareness and build healthier relationships. When we are not in the office, Heather and Trisha are presenting or doing speaking engagements in the community, training other clinicians on how to bring sex and intimacy into the therapy room with their clients, or facilitating intensives for couples who want to enhance their sexual lives.

1. Define therapeutic presence in working with clients.
2. Describe two internal and two external barriers to therapeutic presence while in session.
3. Name four core elements of therapeutic presence and the impact on therapeutic relationship.
